The USC Sumter men's and women's tennis teams have had a challenging spring schedule thus far, with both teams achieving impressive national rankings. The men's team is currently ranked #9 in the ITA national rankings, while the women's team holds the #15 spot.
The women's team has shown remarkable performance, winning five of their last seven matches. Their victories include triumphs over Harford Community College, Oxford Emory, and Piedmont College. This string of successes highlights the team's resilience and skill as they navigate a demanding season.
On the men's side, the team secured a significant win against Harford Community College during the JUCO Invitational, which was hosted at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, SC. This victory adds to their strong season performance and bolsters their national standing.
Individually, the men's team boasts standout players such as, Gian Rojas Rodriguez who is nationally ranked #6, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport. Additionally, the doubles team of Stanley Long and Jakub Sevcik is ranked #9, further emphasizing the depth of talent within the USC Sumter men's tennis program.
As both teams continue to face tough competition, their national rankings and recent successes provide a solid foundation for the NJCAA National Tournament. Both teams will be traveling to compete in the national tournament in May. The women's tournament is hosted by Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas and the men's tournament will be in Florence, SC hosted by the City of Florence.
