Bio

Thompsons first three seasons with the Fire Ants (2017-2019) they posted a 96-72 combined record and won the 2018 NJCAA Region X championship.  He served as the recruiting coordinator, hitting coach, and outfielders' coach.  He helped develop five Region X first-team All-Region selections as well as five Region X Gold Glove award winners. 

Thompson then left and had a two-year stint at Francis Marion University where he worked with the hitters and infielders.  In 2021 the Patriots led the Peach Belt Conference in batting average (.319), and 7 of the 9 starters hit over .300 with Thompson's guidance


June of 2021 Thompson returned to USC Sumter as the Associate Head Coach and recruiting coordinator. Since returning the Fire Ants are 71-33 and finished as Region 10 runners up in 2022.
As a summer coach, Thompson spent the 2016 summer coaching the Galion Graders in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, and in 2017 he was the head coach of the Woodstock River Bandits in the Valley League. 

Thompson played two seasons at USC Sumter and was part of the 2014 Region X Championship team.  He also played two seasons at Lenior-Rhyne University, where he earned a B.A. degree in sports management in 2016. Thompson is married to the former Maryann Hoskins and they have one son Lincoln.
